Calming Pet Chews is independent label research, not veterinary advice. How to use our information and when to call your vet.

Calming Pet Chews is an independent research site. We read product labels, published studies and veterinary-body guidance and summarize them. We are not veterinarians, and nothing on this site is veterinary advice, diagnosis or treatment.

Talk to your vet first

Ask your veterinarian before starting any calming supplement, especially if your dog is a puppy, pregnant or nursing, elderly, has a health condition, or takes any medication (including antidepressants, trazodone, sedatives, seizure or thyroid medication). Severe, sudden or worsening anxiety needs a vet visit, not a supplement.

If your dog eats too many chews

Keep chews sealed and out of reach. If your dog eats more than the label allows, or shows vomiting, unusual sleepiness, wobbliness, agitation or a racing heart, call your veterinarian or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435 (a consultation fee may apply). Never give human melatonin products that may contain xylitol, which is toxic to dogs.

Accuracy of label data

Formulas change. Our tables show what labels or manufacturer pages listed when we checked them, and we mark lower-confidence figures. Always read the current package before buying or dosing.

Affiliate relationship

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. When you buy through a link on this site we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Brands cannot pay for placement or rankings, and commissions do not change the order of any table.

Trademarks

Product and brand names belong to their owners. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any manufacturer we write about, or by Amazon.
